Exploring Beyond the Track: A 10th Anniversary Gravel Ride in Costa Brava with Velodrom

There are days that start with a different kind of feeling.
That quiet sense that what’s about to happen isn’t just another bike ride. This was one of those days, from the first morning coffee to the last pedal stroke by the sea.
The route: Costa Brava, with special stops in Cadaqués and Port de la Selva.
The occasion: an anniversary trip, ten years of marriage.
And I had the privilege of being the guide on this little big adventure.
We organized the tour together with Velodrom, and from the very start, we knew it was going to be something special. Not just because of the landscape — which is already breathtaking on its own — but because of the energy of the couple sharing the experience.

We set off without rush, taking it easy. The morning light painted the mountains in gold, and the sea accompanied us with that calm you only find on the Mediterranean coast. Riding these gravel paths, through pines and cliffs, feels like stepping into another dimension. One where time is measured by smiles, deep breaths, and shared silences.

I was lucky to guide a wonderful couple celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary. And honestly, I can’t think of a better way to mark the occasion than by sharing kilometers, landscapes, and laughter in a place like this.

For me, coming from a background in training and high performance, there’s something I always bring to every tour: an experienced eye that quickly reads how each person moves on the bike.

Just by watching their pedal strokes in the first few kilometers, I can tell if we can veer off the planned route, take on an extra climb, or seek out that hidden descent you won’t find on any map.

And that’s the real value of having a guide. It’s not just about following a route — it’s about living an experience. Finding those “surprises” that GPS won’t show you, but that stay in your memory forever.

We paused in Port de la Selva. Coffee by the sea, an unfiltered chat, a few stories from their ten years together. All in a setting that felt like it was made just for the occasion.
The ride back was just as special as the way out. With lighter hearts and memories already starting to take shape.
And when I received this message after the tour, I knew the experience had truly left its mark:
“Thank you so much for sharing these!! That was such a great ride, we really appreciate the adventure you took us on and now we’ll have photos to go with our memories…”
It’s messages like this that remind me why I do what I do. Because beyond the training, the effort, and the gravel, it’s always about the people, the moments, and the stories worth telling.
Can you imagine celebrating your love story or a friendship by pedaling along the Costa Brava?
we’ll make it happen.
